Please note, in a previous version within our On the Radar section we stated "Gene Luen Yang is the first cartoonist to be a National Book Award finalist for his graphic novel, Boxers & Saints". This is incorrect. He is the first cartoonist to be a National Book Award finalist, but he gained that title in 2006 for his wonderful novel American Born Chinese!
